Dad’s Graduation

Dad (aka LC. Seymour, Uncle Go-Go), was born in Yazoo City, MS on August 27, 1940. The oldest of four children (born to grandpa Charlie and grandma Cloran Syas-Molett), Dad was raised by our great grandma Emma Sya.  He graduated from Linwood High School in Mississippi, and soon moved to Spokane. After beginning work at the Bon Marche, Dad finally found his home at Wonder Bread where he retired after 34 years as a Sanitation Supervisor.

Dad loved game nights, fishing, hunting, basketball, collecting hats, casino nights, horseracing, and of course karaoke.  Well known to all friends and family, also loved to cook. Anyone who has ever had breakfast, ribs, fried fish, collard greens, or iron-skillet cornbread at his home, you’ve most likely heard Dad say, “I only have two rules: No one leaves mad or hungry.”

Early PIcture of Mom

Mom (Sandra Lee Ashe) was born in Key West, FL, on April 10, 1943. She was the oldest of seven children born to Henry and Dorothy Ashe. The family moved to Spokane, WA when Grandpa Henry was sent there for service in the U.S. Army. Spokane was a long way from Key West, but the family settled in. Mom attended schools in Spokane and graduated from Lewis & Clark High School in 1961.

Mom had her second loves as well.  If it wasn’t putting together one of Spokane’s largest Christmas village collections, it was certainly collecting the most giraffes.  Mom’s giraffe collection spanned from art to knick-knacks, to figurines and statues.  Additionally, mom was never to be outdone at karaoke where she and dad had quite a loyal local-fan club and following.  Most of their friends from the karaoke club still keep in touch with the family to this day.

The Wedding

Mom and Dad had a love story that lasted 61 years.  They married on June 29th, 1963 and celebrated 56 years of marriage.

They had had 3 of us children, Rodney (wife Sheila) Molett, Stephanie (husband Oscar) Portillo, and Traci (husband Jason) Crowley.  Additionally, they had two grandsons, Braxton and Deitrek Molett. Mom was the oldest of 6 siblings (Henry, Dennis, Artis, Gail, Ron, Paulette), and Dad was the oldest of 3 siblings (Robert, Ruthie, and Isaiah).

The Molett Magic

Mom and Dad leave an incredible legacy.  Not only were they amazing parents and friends to all… They had an uncanny ability to make memories by bringing people together. The house was always full because people wanted to be around them.  Everyone was always welcomed and once Mom and Dad entered the room, you knew the fun was about to start.  It’s the one truly lasting memory. That was the magic of Mom and Dad.
